Ingredients for making Dal:

Toor dal - 1 cup
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard - 1/2 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 4-5 leaves
Finely chopped onion - 1/2 cup
Finely chopped tomatoes - 1/2 cup
Soaked Tamarind - 1/4 cup
Jaggery - 1/2 cup
Red Chili Powder - 1 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 1 tbsp
Turmeric - 1/2 tsp
Salt - to taste

Ingredients for making bati:

Batti flour (thick wheat flour) - 3 cups
Ajwan - 1 tbsp
Hot oil - 2 tbsp
Salt - to taste
Oil - 3 tbsp
Oil - for frying

How to make bati:

Recipe for making bati - Take a plate first. Add batti flour, ajwan, hot oil and salt to taste. Then knead the dough well. Cover with batti flour for 10 minutes.

Method 1 - After 10 minutes, make small balls. Then put the cooker on a high heat and add 3 tbsp oil. Then add the prepared bati balls. Put as many balls in the cooker as there are oils in it (small cooker holds 5-6 bati balls).

From the cooker whistle, put the lid on the cooker. Stir in it for 3-4 minutes. So the bati will be baked on all sides. Turn off the heat when the bati is baked on all sides. Prepare all the bati in this way.

Method 2 - After 10 minutes, make large balls(3-4). Then pour 1 glass of water in the idli pot. Place a plate of idli on it. Place the prepared balls on it and cover it with 15. Put a knife in it after 15 minutes. If the knife does not stick to it, turn off the gas.

Once the balls have cooled, cut them to the desired size. Add oil for frying in a pan on one side. When the oil is well heated, add chopped bati. Keep the gas on high flame while frying. Fry those bati well reddish.

How to make Dal:

To make dal, first cook the dal in a cooker. Take 3-4 whistles to the cooker. Then turn off the gas. Place the pan on one side, add oil. When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds. When it is slightly cracked, add finely chopped onion. 

When onion turns red, add finely chopped tomatoes. Once the tomatoes are cooked, add cardamom leaves.

Remove the soaked tamarind water from one side. Then add the tamarind water to the mixture. Add red chili powder, garam masala, turmeric powder and salt to taste. And stir well with a spoon. 

Then add a glass of water and jaggery along with it. Then stir it well. (If you want dal to be as thick or thin, you can add water accordingly.) When dal boils well, turn off the gas.

Crush the prepared bati in a plate. Then add the prepared dal on it. And serve everyone.This dal bati is very nice with ghee
